Event highlights written by Carolyn Rios: Despite doom and gloom from the weathermen about rain , 35 people showed up on Saturday, March 19th, 2011, to join in the Windward Avenue Clean-up.  We had 24 brooms, rubber gloves, graffiti remover, wire brushes, rakes and giant trash bags.  There was plenty for everyone, yet no one felt overworked.  Since we temporarily cannot do the garden at the Postal Annex, abou

t 12 of the gardeners from Joyful Activist went to the Dudley Triangle garden which was in need of weeding.

The Chamber of Commerce had the largest turnout with their big smiles and gray VENICE sign T-shirts.  (Thanks to Alex and Nadine Rosales of Control Printing for the shirts).   Many were from the Venice Neighborhood Council, and then our always willing to pitch in community of volunteers, some just stayed 1/2 hour and then had to leave, others stayed until the social gathering and yummy food at Hama Sushi provided by HamaWindward Farms, and Whole Foods.

Most of the sidewalks have already been pressure washed by  Tsu-Na-Mi and High Power pressure washing, and will be completed this week.  Be sure to look down this week and notice.  Pressure washing provided by Tom Sewell, Louie Ryan, Ann Everest, Andy Layman, Mark Sokol, and the 13.1 Marathob ( US Road Sports).

Look for future announcements about the Postal garden, and other area clean-ups.  It was a easy and successful collaboration for the Venice Neighborhood Council, the Venice Chamber of Commerce and the Joyful Activist (Whole Foods).
