Once again it was live and direct at the Video Army’s GO A.W.O.L. 1st Friday party. This month featured a packed house to see the award winning documentary “Diamonds in the Rough” directed by VA’s own Brett “3rdi” Mazurek. The film was about Ugandan Hip Hop artists on a mission to empower the forgotten youth of Africa from within,
while spreading their message of hope around the globe, Narrated by Spearhead’s lead singer Michael Franti. The film was followed by a live Afro Punk performance by Ugandan Hip Hip Artist Saba Saba and band Checkpoint Charlie. They rocked it fusing Afro Beats, Punk Rock, and Ugandan Hip Hop called “Luga Flow. The party was African themed with photography from Uganda by the films director, a video installation of International Hip Hop videos and African cuisine by All Diced Up’s Master Chef Avery. Video Army’s GO A.W.O.L. parties have been nothing short of top notch filled with Art, Music, Food, and good people…Can’t wait to see what they do next month.
