The GO A.W.O.L. parties just seem to be getting better and better… If you weren’t there…here’s what you missed. LA Born artist Joey Garcia blessed the Video Army’s walls with his vision to celebrate life by embracing death. His large-scale paintings are a response to common fears and beliefs surrounding the inevitable. Skulls are a foundational theme throughout his works, appearing either as the main subject or in the background.

In the Zen Den we had Dj 3rdi throwing down an ALL ViNYL classic Hip Hop set stimulating the ears of art enthusiasts until the main act David Kirton came on to do an all acoustic reggae set in the VA Headquarters. David Kirton’s music has forced us to reevaluate our stereotypes in regards to music and artists from the Caribbean. With his original, organic sound and energy he is moving forward in the main arena and will remind us to never judge an artist by his dreadlocks again.

There were Jamaican-style delicious eats and treats by the one and only Master Chef Avery from All Diced Up and some celebirty sighting including the Legendary Queen of Hip Hop MC Lyte, The Twilight Saga Wolf Pack Leader Chaske Spencer, and Uganda’s Biggest Luga Flow Hip Hop Artist Saba Saba. The evening was filled with good vibes, great music, killer art and beautiful people.
