Artist Outi Harma with Venice Art Crawl’s volunteer coordinator and beauty Andrea Tan.
About the artist: Outi Harma is originally from Lapland, Finland. This is how she describes her painting process: “There are two main ways that I start my paintings. The most common method is improvisational. I start with mixing and playing with colors. Images begin to appear spontaneously as I paint. This requires that I am willing to be with the unknown without any clear direction. It can be extremely frustrating at times .But I love being surprised by what will manifest on the canvas and letting it tell me a story, instead of having a preconceive idea how to painting will look like. Then there are times while I am in a meditative state, in movement or just sitting in stillness, and a image will come to me and keep reappearing over time until I paint it.”

Here is a great message from Todd Goodman “It’s all about facing the world with a positive attitude and taking life as it comes, open to a world of random chance and opportunity. I do what I can to take life one day at a time, smiling, and trying to simply create happiness in my heart and in the world. In my mind, art is raw, unfiltered, expressions of life itself. There should be no prejudice or egotism to life and art. It is what it is, each to his or her own. No matter what my subject matter is though, the intention behind my work is always an expression of my happiness, love, truth and understanding.”
Question from VP: Who remembers the Harvest bread from Pioneer Bakery? So good and so missed!
In this photo: @Venice_Sunsets with Boardwalk App showcase at VB Surf. Center: Boardwalk App’s Evan White enjoying a Venice Duck Brewery. Venice Beach Sunsets began their collaborative photography project as a hobby, making it a routine to photograph a sunset everyday, posting their daily shots to social media. Their creative diversion quickly grew, and @Venice_Sunsets now boasts over 92,000 Instagram followers. VP comment: Woo hoo! Congrats!
