On Wednesday, June 29, the Boys & Girls Club of Venice held its annual donor appreciation mixer at Nikki’s in Venice Beach. Nearly 100 donors, volunteers and friends of the Club mingled, viewed Club member artwork and learned about the Club’s programs and special initiatives. Each year, the Club has to raise the necessary funds to support the programs, staff and facility on the corner of Lincoln Blvd. and Venice Blvd.
“We are Venice,” exclaimed the Club’s Executive Director, Erikk Aldridge. “Our ability to change and save the lives of children and families in our community would not be possible without the support of the community.”
The event also served as an inauguration party for incoming Board President, Julie Henley, and the launching of the Club’s newest volunteer engagement initiative, the Young Professionals Society of Venice (YPS), which challenges professionals age 21-35 to get involved with the Club and make a difference in the community through active volunteerism.
Thanks to Mike, Eric and the entire Nikki’s staff for hosting a great event. In honor of the partnership, Nikki’s bartender Troy, created a specialty drink, Code Blue, to help raise money for the Club. Patrons can now order a Code Blue at Nikki’s with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Club.
