“We want to thank everyone for participating in last night’s vigil. In the last 11 days Venice’s LGBTQ community and friends have come together in both celebration at the Venice Pride Sign Lighting and somber solidarity last night in a way that has been both beautiful and amazing.

Rather than disappearing after the Roosterfish closed, this community has become more vibrant and is stronger than ever. It was inspiring last night listening to the diverse members of our Venice community, including our openly-gay Councilmember Mike Bonin speak about the tragedy of Orlando. Last night was also a call to action. Venice Pride is ongoing, and Venice Pride as an organization will continue as well to help support these actions, create events for coming together and help facilitate the needs and joy of the Venice and Westside LGBTQ community.

We invite everyone in the community — lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or straight — to participate in the Kiss the One You Love campaign at the Venice Sign now through June 30th.”
