Here is a message from BGCV’s Emily Harvey.
The Boys & Girls Club of Venice (BGCV) hosted their 11th Annual Champion of Youth Gala Thursday, September 22nd at the Jonathan Beach Club in Santa Monica. Held in the sand and under the stars, over 400 guests helped honor the 2016 Champions of Youth Milt Swimmer, Dolvett Quince, and Paul Bricault to raise over $520,000 to support the youth and programming at the Boys & Girls Club of Venice.
The event was full of live music from Alanna & These Fine Gentlemen and Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol, bidding wars, excellent food, and amazing performances by the Club’s Dance Team, an original song by Club member Chris Love, and a beautiful cover of Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin”. Club Alum Chris Rojas premiered a video on the Club which lead to a $100,000 pledge from former Board Member Jerry Snyder and an $11,000 Board Match! “It was a beautiful night on so many levels…the sunset over the beach, amazing company, our wonderful Club kids, and most importantly the spirit of community and of caring for others,” said BGCV CEO Karen Papazian. “I couldn’t be more proud of the BGCV team who put together this incredible event and who serve the youth of Venice every day. Our guests got to see who we are, and they responded with open arms and giving hearts!”
Event Sponsors Include: Katy & Shaun Tucker, The Capital Group, Nestle, One Wealth Management, Toyota Financial Services, Clearlake Capital, Milt & Carla Swimmer, The Gores Group, and many more.
