Recent event covered:  04.12.12 The Emergence of Silicon Beach.  Hosted by the Venice Neighborhood Council and the Venice Chamber.

“By all accounts, thursday nights event, which  focused on The Emergence of Silicon Beach in Venice and Surrounding Westside Communities, was the most successful and fun town hall to date. The VNC and Chamber -sponsored town hall packed the auditorium of Westminster elementary and computer/math magnet school, with an estimated 400+ ppl attending. 25 local tech, high-tech and digital media companies took part in a business showcase from 6:30 to 7:30 in which residents were able to interact with company representatives and find out what they’re working on. The energy and creative atmosphere in the room was evident.  Following the showcase, a panel discussion took place.  The panel included  James Citron, Thomas Williams, Jeff Solomon and J.J. Aguhob.  The panel discussion was moderated by Councilmen Bill Rosendahl.  A variety of topics were covered that highlighted how venice is transforming into in a hub of the tech and high tech industries in large part due to the attractive nature of a longstanding tradition of creativity that has existed in our community. Panelists spoke about what their companies are doing to be a part of the community and how they can help. Q+A followed as residents were able to voice their thoughts.  Overall it was a very positive and constructive evening.  The town hall will be broadcast on Channel 35 LA City View
