Here is a message from the Go Topless Day organizers.

This year, GoTopless Day is Sunday Aug. 25, one day before Women’s Equality Day, because Aug 26 happens to fall on a Monday. It is indeed on Aug 26, 1920 that women earned their right to vote on the basis of Gender Equality. In 1971, the US Congress has made Aug 26 into a nationally recognized date and named it “Women’s Equality Day”. The president of the United States is summoned to commemorate this date each year.

It is only logical that GoTopless Day protests (or celebrations depending on the legal status of your city) would be based on Women’s Equality Day since the right to go topless for women is based on gender equality as their right to vote once was.

Join us Aug 25th for the annual GoTopless Happiness Parade in Venice Beach, CA in honor of Women’s Equality Day and support gender topless equality. Women have the same constitutional right as men to go bare-chested in public but California discriminates against women by refusing to enforce this basic gender equal right. Come and stand up for change! Topless freedom for everyone!
