The Venice High School Alumni Association is planning to hold its first ever Hall of Fame induction ceremony this month. The ceremony will take place on October 20, 2017, at Homecoming. Venice High School, with its rich heritage, has had numerous graduates of notoriety. A special committee of the Alumni Association began with a list of well over 100 potential nominees, and gradually reduced the number to 44 to be invited to be a part of the first class. At the time of this news release, plans are in place to have 20 of the 44 to be inducted.
Notable inductees include Venice developer and community leader Abbot Kinney, actress Myrna Loy, astronaut Walter Cunningham, skateboarder Peggy Oki, and actor Kenny Medlock of the movie Moneyball. The list in its entirety can be seen on the Hall of Fame page of the Venice High School Alumni Association Website www.venicehighalumni.com.
The Hall of Fame festivities will begin with a reception on campus with the homecoming court. The inductees will then be honored in the Homecoming parade prior to the start of the Varsity football game. At halftime, the installation ceremony will take place on the field, where inductees will be officially introduced. Afterwards, recipients will be given a tour of the administration building hallway, where their Hall of Fame plaques will be prominently displayed. The evening will conclude with a reception at the Alumni House (across the street from the school).
This momentous inaugural Venice High School Hall of Fame induction is highly anticipated, and the committee is excited to welcome alumni back on campus to properly honor the inductees for their accomplishments. Put the date on your schedule and plan to be a part of this historic event!
