Recent event Covered: On Friday, October 15th, Venice Paparazzi checked out the opening day of  XTP World Championship of Extreme Tennis at Venice Beach.  This event was in honor of Jessica Ortiz & In Memory CHP Officer Phillip Ortiz.  Unfortunately  I missed the XTP honor and memorial match featuring celebrities Ryan O’Neal, Jon Lovitz, Brandon Beemer and Nels Van Patten.  However,  I did manage to get the above photo after the match.   This event was hosted by Venice local,  World Paddle Tennis Champion & #1 Player Scott Freedman.  Sponsored by Wilson, Danny’s and Canal Club.  That day Scott Freedman played for his brother-n-law Philip Ortiz,  sister-n-law Jessica Ortiz and family.  California Highway Patrol and Firestation 63 were there in attendance to support.

Here is a message from XTP founder Scott Freedman. “Jessica Ortiz, my sister in law, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer 2 weeks before her husband CHP Officer Phillip Ortiz was tragically killed on duty 5 months ago on the 405 fwy. That was my inspiration and motivation to why I held this Xtreme Tennis Event!!

Here is an insert I found from the LAobserved.com.

“Ortiz is the motorcycle officer who was struck June 9 during a traffic stop on the northbound 405 by a car driving on the shoulder near the Palms bridge. Ortiz spent 28 years with the CHP and had worked in the West Los Angeles area for more than 20 years.  He is survived by his wife, parents and large extended family.” Click here for more info.

Scottie, what is the difference between Xtreme Tennis and Paddle Tennis? Xtreme Tennis is essentially Paddle Tennis with the biggest difference between both is that in Paddle tennis there are certain core rules on how the game is played that all players must adhere to, in Xtreme tennis we took almost all of the rules out of the game to have very few RESTRICTIONS when playing to allow regular Tennis players to come in and play . We made it more like Tennis rules with an underhand serve of course to embrace the regular Tennis communities across America to have them start playing Xtreme tennis and to help organize and give a boost to the existing paddle tennis players across the country, it’s very XTREME!! If you have any questions please DO NOT hesitate to contact me!!  Sincerely, Scott Freedman (XTP).   Scott Freedman – CEO   |    Xtreme Tennis Professionals   |    29 20th Avenue Suite 100.   Venice Beach, Ca. 90291  |   Cell: (310) 480-7703  |    Office: (310) 776-9224  |   [email protected]   |    http://www.xtpfilms.com

LAST THING ON PADDLE TENNIS. Let us hear what Scotty Freedman has to say about the sport of Paddle Tennis.

Scott Freedman credentials: Scotty Freedman has played Paddle Tennis for 40 years, and has  won the most championships in Paddle Tennis sport’s history.  191 in all, too many to list.

What do I love about paddle tennis: I love the fact that people of all different skill levels and abilities and levels of play can think and understand the game of Paddle Tennis at their respective levels of play exactly like i think and do the game, playing the game  at the games top level like i do is entirely different

Venice beach paddle tennis courts are an eclectic mix of people from all different backgrounds, be it unemployed and hanging at the beach everyday or the richest of the rich in Los Angeles, they all have “ONE COMMON GOAL” they love the game of paddle tennis
