About the Venice Art Crawl: Our goal is to share, inspire and promote collaboration within the Venice community through mixers and art events. Our goal is to foster and reinvigorate the creativity that has historically and currently makes Venice such a vibrant and dynamic community. A message from Venice Art Crawl Co-founder Daniel Samakow

Was it 3 years ago local artists brought a petition to the Venice Task Force complaining about the loss of the boardwalk to commercial vendors and having no place to exhibit anymore? That need sparked the art crawl and now we have pop-up galleries during the art crawls having gained so much notoriety that they have followings and galleries like Cave on AK thriving. 3 years ago the first meeting ( at Canal Club ) was a room full of artists who did not know each other or that each other existed! Now there is no doubt that there is an art community in Venice, here to stay and growing. 3 years ago we did not know if we could keep the art crawl going. Now the quarterly art crawls are the biggest, best received events we’ve ever had with a new group of young artists and supporters leading the way. The VAC is now part of the Venice Chamber and one of the official art conduits for Venice, also bringing art to numerous other events like its presence at the Venice Sign holiday lighting or the monthly mixers. As one of the founders I could not be prouder of Venice for recognizing the importance of art to the soul of our community and for continually supporting the Venice Art Crawl. I’m excited to see the next 3 years.

3 years ago the VAC was just an idea, a conversation between Daniel Samakow, Mike Newhouse and myself. Now 36 months later with the help of so many volunteers such as Sunny Bak, Lisa Ramsay, Isabelle Lago, Michael Mullen, Nicole Muyingo, Mark Rojas, David Stine, and many many more…. we have over 30 VAC events under our belt, 7,500 facebook fans, 100’s of artists have showcased their work, people bought art, the Venice artist community has become a family, and more. All the volunteers that continue to put their hearts into this great community event are looking forward to the next chapter for the art crawl.
