On August 3rd, the Venice Neighborhood Council’s hosted their 7th annual Venice Community FREE Potluck Picnic at Oakwood Park.
Over 1000 meals served. 600 lbs of chicken, 400 lbs of pork, over 200 hot dogs, 144 tofu dogs and 144 field sausages were served up by Venice’s own fire fighters from LAFD Station 63, grilled by Chief Jeremiah Johnson and master grillers Barklie Griggs and Todd von Hoffmann.
Who was there: LA City Council member Mike Bonin and other elected officials. A variety of musical acts including blues and funk bands with headliners the legendary Bonedaddys.
Many brought a side dish, salad or dessert and received a raffle ticket for chances to win one of the many prizes donated by local businesses. There were fun games for adults and kids, including watermelon-eating contests, a rope pull, and a bouncy house.
A message from Venice Neighborhood Council: Thank you so much for your participation in and generosity to the 7th Annual VNC Venice Community BBQ and Potluck. Without you, we could not make it happen! We look forward to your involvement next year, as we do what we can for community unity. We want next year to be even better. And we need you to make it happen! Let’s keep showing ’em what Venice is all about!
