Hey Venetians, Land Use Planning Committee is having a hearing tomorrow that could end Hinano’s right serve food and alcohol on their patio. Can you take a minute to hop on a Zoom to defend Hinano? Link here.
Back story:
The sidewalk adjacent to Hinano has become a meeting place for a crowd that has largely been 86’d from the bar. They now show up and set up a loud music system, blasting late into the night, that annoys the neighbors. The neighbors are fed up and Hinano Cafe has tried to get the police to help, but there isn’t much they can do. Ideally, the outdoor crowd would move their party to the parking lot and all would be well. But so far that hasn’t happened.
So here we are, one day from a hearing with LUPC that could shut down Hinano’s ability to serve food and alcohol on their patio, through no fault of their own. And what good is having a patio if you can’t serve food and alcohol on it? None! Basically it would become a useless area, diminishing the fun factor for the neighborhood, and reducing the amount of people that could enjoy cold brew and burgers!

Ayway if you love live bands, cold brew, and legendary burgers the way we do, and if you love Hinano Cafe, Venice’s favorite and last remaining old school dive bar the way we do, then please come out and let Land Use Planning Commission know that the Hinano patio is a welcome part of the community and should not be eliminated as a result of a small group of individuals.

About Hinano Cafe:
We’ve been serving world-famous burgers and cold beers just steps from the Venice Beach pier since 1962. Notorious for being Jim Morrison’s favorite Venice hangout.
Hinano is that rare local bar for people from all over the world. It’s also a cool place to duck into out of the sun…and then stay till the wee hours. We have a good selection of beer on tap served in frosty mugs and pitchers or in icy bottles.
Three pool tables, free popcorn, a great jukebox and full college and NFL cable sports package (and plenty of screens) make Hinano Cafe a good time just waiting to happen.
