Here is a message from the Venice Chamber.

Venice Beach is the second most frequented tourist destination in Southern California, with more than 20 million visitors annually. Venice was established in 1905 on a “Big Bet” made by its founder, Abbot Kinney, who built navigatable canals throughout the community inspired by his trips to Venice, Italy. He influenced the city government to install trolley lines to convey Angelinos from all parts of Los Angeles to its Ocean-front shoreline. By the mid-1930s, the City of Los Angeles terminated the trolley lines, leaving no other access to Venice save the automobile.
It is time for a change and to take action for better infrastructure. Join in on the conversation for change and to inspire improvements on the infrastructure in our beloved Venice Beach.

The Big Bet – A Series of Town Halls to Build Back Venice

Like so many communities throughout the nation emerging from the shadows of the Great Pandemic, Venice has a small window of time to rebuild its way towards a better, more functional community. It is a time to lead with an accelerated community-inspired action plan. This first in a series of Town Halls will explore how the new infrastructure funding passed into law by the Biden Administration last year will impact California and, as significantly, how Venice can influence decision-makers to allocate funding to Venice for better transportation and public parking.

Join the conversation with State Treasurer Fiona Ma and guest speaker from Williams and Jensen, one of the nation’s leading government affairs law firms. The Town Hall will be moderated by Venice Chamber board member Laurette Healey.
