Venice Oceanarium “Marine Science Pop-up”

Venice Pier Reopening Allows Return of “Marine Science Pop-up” Events Starting this Sunday, Hosted by Venice Oceanarium!

WHO:
Venice Oceanarium, a non-profit organization with a mission to ignite a passion for abundance, diversity, and significance of the web of life in our ocean and its shores and emphasizes the powerful and enduring emotional and aesthetic influences of the ocean on human culture.

WHAT:
Marine Science Pop-up events are returning to the newly renovated Venice Pier. Visitors will be Citizen Scientists for a day and learn about the flora and fauna of our beautiful ocean that exists right underneath the pier.

Activities include:
– Observe and learn about different types of sand seawater with samples under microscopes
– Gathering ocean data from water testing kits
– Create ocean-inspired art & read poetry
– Watch migratory birds from 1000 feet out over the open sea, along with the local “Surfer” species, you may even catch dolphins playing in the waters 🙂
– See what kind of perch the local fishermen are catching off our coast
– Future events including beachcombing field trips, annual Moby Dick reading, and more to be announced soon!
