Here is a message from Venice Art Crawl President Sunny Bak!

During Covid times it’s hard to find moments of pure joy and happiness. Children who were locked in all year found ways to express themselves during the pandemic through their art.

The six junior artists from grades K through 5th grade were recipients of the 5th annual My Venice Holiday poster contest organized by the Venice Art Crawl and the Venice Chamber of Commerce.

Winners from the local elementary LAUSD schools received certificates from Venice Chamber of Commerce, Councilman Mike Bonin, Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Assemblywoman Autumn Burke, Congressman  Ted Lieu, State Senator Ben Allen, and LAUSD board member Nick Melvoine, who announced the winners during the first virtual Venice Holiday sign lighting.

Vice president of the Venice Chamber of Commerce, Sunny Bak presented gifts from the VAC, a gift bag from Burro and a gift card and tee shirt from the chamber.

How the Trump Tried to Steal Christmas (and the Election)

The election made me feel happy and that Christmas came early. I have been doing political cartoons all of this fall because sometimes I have to make fun of things even if they are serious.

Teacher – Alejandra Biolatto

Ryn Cook, Fifth Grade – Walgrove Elementary

The title of Rynny’s drawing is Masks of Holidays. The reason being is that even though the world can feel like it’s falling apart, especially right now during this pandemic, it’s possible for us to still be together. That is why everyone in the drawing is wearing a mask. Rynny’s drawing represents the togetherness that the holidays bring upon us.
