13755 Fiji Way, Marina del Rey, CA 90292
FREE parking if you like to walk – at Dock 52. Otherwise, park at Fisherman’s Village.
Join us to reimagine our relationship with nature. Discover the majesty of the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve in Marina del Rey, a glorious piece of nature in our midst.
Discuss the question: “What does protecting an ecological reserve have to do with CLIMATE CHANGE?” ~ FACTS: The Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve is the ONLY State Ecological Reserve in all of Los Angeles County.  Sierra Club members will join Naturalist Walter Lamb of the Ballona Wetlands Land Trust.  He will guide you and identify birds and plant populations that are increasingly rare on the Southern California coast.
At the start of the walk, we will also hear from noted environmentalist Marcia Hanscom who will briefly explain why protecting natural open spaces – especially when there are mature trees, shrubs and thousands-of-year-old soils – is crucial to fighting climate change.
After the tour, we’ll gather for plant-based donuts & coffee at nearby benches ✨☕️🍩🌱🧁🌱🍪☕️✨
Looking forward to seeing you all🕊️🌱✨Saturday, April 12 at 9 am. By registering for this event, you agree to share your registration information with the LA Climate Week Organizers.
