Venice Paparazzi was on the scene to document LAPD Pacific Division‘s National Night Out and partnered up with IKE Smart City to bring not one, but two of the world famous, super fun Venice Paparazzi photo booths.  It was a fantastic evening of meeting and mixing with first responders, community, and elected officials while enjoying food, photos, music, and more. A big fist bump to George Francisco for putting this together!

A message from event producer George Francisco.

This year, Pacific Division brought their National Night Out celebration to the Del Rey neighborhood with the help of the Pacific Area Boosters Association, Pacific Division’s Community Advisory Board and a host of generous sponsors.  Unique among LAPD, Pacific reflects the geographic and community diversity of the Division by relocating the NNO event to different communities within their footprint each year.
.
Del Rey welcomed the event which took place on a closed portion of Alla Road right next to Bill Rosendahl Park.  The free event featured over 40 safety agencies, businesses and community groups providing information, engagement, food and music to the delight of kids of all ages.
,
Participating agencies included, the FBI, the United States Postal Inspectors Service, LAFD Station 67, CERT Battalion 4, Los Angles Lifeguards, Customs & Border Protection, The LA City Attorney’s Neighborhood Justice Program and their Victims Assistance Program, the LA Department of Recreation and Parks, Los Angeles World Airports  and My Safe LA.
,
LAPD brought out their Beach Detail, K-9 Bomb Unit, West Traffic Division Motors and .  Our Metropolitan Division’s Mounted Unit.  Local Pacific Cadets helped organize everyone and handed out free water, hotdogs and sub sandwiches to attendees while local restaurants Cantalini’s, Paloma and Cerveteca provided a variety of delicious, freshly made offerings.
,
While Pacific Division encompasses all of Council District 11, it also protects parts of Council District 5 and CM Katy Yaroslavsky was on hand to address the crowd early before CD 11’s own Traci Park arrived later to share the evening’s festivities with her constituents.  Notable was the heartfelt speech by Deputy Chief Emada Tingirides thanking all community participants and neighbors for their support.
,
The event also was fortunate to have the presence of Senator Ben Allen’s office and Mayor Karen Bass’ team as well.
,
Community originations like the Playa/Venice Rotary Club, the Del Rey Residents Association, the Del Rey NC, Westchester/Playa NC, Be Creative, Scouting America, Animo Venice High School, Hacker Fund, Venice Family Clinic and Building Blue Bridges were all in attendance.  Local businesses Target, Costco, 7 Eleven, Home Depot, ATT,  Kinecta Bank and Athens all provided services or treats and gifts for everyone.

The night was filled with great music by DJ Todd Alter of SoundHounds and a special performance from  Mariachi Canciones De Mi Tierra who strolled the event.  The IKE Smart City photo booth operated by Venice Paparazzi – as always – was a hit.  Raffle prizes were drawn throughout the night with the highlight a rad Arbor skateboard donated by Arbor’s Bob Carlson.  Other enticing winners received dinner certificates from Michelin starred Hatchet Hall, Market Venice, Maple Block, Cerveteca, The Penmar and Venice Beach Wines and Paloma Venice.
,
The Pacific Boosters Association received sponsorship donations from a wide variety of businesses and stakeholders including The Hotel Erwin, Venice Suites, GVS Properties, Brandview Capital, Newhouse Law Group, BuildGroup, General Real Estate, Market Venice, Paula Gerez, Daffodil Tyminski, Philip Kfoury, Jack Hughes, Jaana Shellock and Dr Robert Nolan
,
“National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August” (natw.org/about)
,
The movable fun-fest that is Pacific Division’s version of the celebration ended with smiles, full bellies and a little sun on everyone’s faces and talk about what community could host next year…looking at you Mar Vista!
