It looks like someone is not down with the jams! Hmmm! We think live music is a good thing and that our friends at The Penmar Venice should continue to build this super fun event.
Please read the message from them below and see what you think!
Live music at The Penmar has become a neighborhood institution and we love and appreciate all of our neighbors, friends and guests that join us each week.
Unfortunately, there are 5 neighbors that live on the hill north of The Penmar that want to end the music for all of us. These are the same neighbors that tried to kill our liquor license earlier this year. THE STRUGGLE IS NOT OVER and we need your help, again. •The last time we asked for your help, thousands in our community responded and literally saved our liquor license and gave us a stay of execution on hosting Sunset Sessions. THANK YOU! •We now have a hearing on October 18 in front of LA City / LAPD Board of Police Commissioners to get final sign off for our events permit. •The group of 5 on the Santa Monica hill are kicking and screaming as loud as they can to try and kill our LAPD events permit and kill live music / Sunset Sessions. They continue to yell at our staff, slander our ownership, file costly lawsuits, attempt restraining orders, make harassment claims and do anything they can to show that 3 hours of low volume live music on Friday night is “ruining their lives”. •We have made compromises and have tried to appease these neighbors but they want nothing short of shutting the music down. •We continue to operate because we adhere to all laws, all ABC license conditions, our temporary LAPD events permit, and speaker volume limits. We capture and record regular decibel readings throughout all Sunset Session shows to document that we are always in compliance. • We end all amplified music promptly at 9pm. |
