The inaugural event Fest Afrik, which aims to showcase the diverse and rich cultures of Africa, will take place on Saturday, May 27th, 2023, from 12-6 pm at the Venice Beach Recreation Center (Winward Plaza). Fest Afrik will celebrate Africa Day, and the public is invited to attend and participate in a range of cultural activities.
Fest Afrik will highlight the many facets of African culture through various mediums, including music, food, fashion, storytelling, arts, and crafts. The event will feature performances from singers, musicians, poets, spoken word artists, traditional drummers, dancers, and fashion models, all based in Los Angeles.
In attendance will be the honorary Consul Generals of Senegal, Chad, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Romania, Ethiopia, and Egypt, along with local elected officials and LA-based diplomats. Booths and stalls featuring various foods and fashions from Africa will be displayed, along with traditional African jewelry, tribal face painting, African shoes, and accessories.
Fest Afrik will take place in a prime location by the beach, a main attraction for tourists and locals alike, and offers an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the diverse African cultures.
We are excited to bring Fest Afrik to the people of Los Angeles, said the event organizer. This event is a celebration of the richness of African cultures, and we hope to educate and inspire attendees through music, food, fashion, and storytelling.
