It was an action packed day on the mats at Rey Diogo – Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu here in Venice!
Three of Rey Diogo’s black belts who have affiliated schools in the area brought their athletes down for “in house” tournament between the family of 4 schools: Rey Diogo BJJ, Ocean Grown BJJ, Conejo Valley Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Won BJJ.
It was a white, blue, and purple belt competition, with 5 minute rounds, and points and submission only, no advantages. As well, if the fight ended in a tie, there were 1 minute overtimes, with the first score winning. All four academies put in stellar showings, with big hearted competitors showcasing technical ability and the will to win. As well, there were lots of friendly faces from the local BJJ community watching, refereeing, keeping score, coaching, and enjoying the atmosphere. A great Saturday morning. We are looking forward to next one. Osss!
Venice Paparazzi’s Alex and Edizen are proud to be part of this amazing community of athletes. Join us on the mats!
About Rey Diogo:
Ricardo Diogo, also known as “REY” DIOGO was one of the first Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu team representatives to come to the United States where he established his own academy based on his master’s teachings. Ever since he landed in the U.S. (1996), Rey Diogo quickly became one of the top Jiu Jitsu instructors in the country, forming several high level black belts.
