Re-live last year’s 2019 National Night Out with LAPD Pacific Division via Venice Paparazzi photos

Trigger warning joke: Perhaps covid should be the official virus of the cancel culture.  bahahahha.

Another super cool event has been canceled due to the virus.

National Night Out was scheduled for Tues. Aug. 4, 2020.  Due to Covid19, NNO has been tentatively rescheduled for October 2020. Hopefully it happens. Details coming soon.

That said, last years NNO at Windward/Pacific was a fun and festive event that honored those who put their lives on the line daily to protect the public.

Here is the 2019 message from Venice Chamber President and Venice Sign event producer George Francisco.

On a perfect California summer night, the the Venice Chamber joined with LAPD’s Pacific Division, and  The Pacific Area Boosters Association  to celebrate National Night Out at the world-famous Venice Sign.

National Night Out is celebrated the first Tuesday of every August to promote police-community partnership and attendees from all over Pacific Division enjoyed meeting local law enforcement officers and getting to know them personally.

The highlight of the festivities was a visit from LAPD Chief Michel Moore who addressed the crowd and joined with the Command Staff and Senior Lead Officers from Pacific Division to light up the Venice Sign “LAPD Blue” as The Clash’s rendition of “I Fought The Law” rang out in fitting Venice style.

Windward Ave was filled with valuable information on public safety programs from agencies like the California Highway Patrol, County Lifeguards, 911 Call Center and our own Beach Detail.

Representatives from Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Congressman Ted Lieu, Assemblywoman Autumn Burke and Mayor Eric Garcetti were on hand to answer questions as the chill sounds of the Del Rey Community Jazz Band led by Danny Meyer entertained everyone.

A free bike valet was provided by The L.A. County Bike Coalition  and dozens of kids enjoyed a safe cycling class run by Walk N Rollers while Bird had their own safe scootering course laid out to educate riders.

The night was made possible by the generous contribution of sponsors  such as System 1, Brandview Capital Partners, Bird, AT&T, Rolling Stone, Gary & Vera Sutter and Cantalini’s Salerno Beach Restaurant.
