CANCELLED: CicLAvia -Mid City Meets Venice

To our community:

CicLAvia, in coordination with the City of Los Angeles, has made the decision to cancel CicLAvia—Mid City Meets Venice on April 26. The health and safety of our participants, volunteers, city staff, and partners are our primary focus.

In addition to gathering on event day, a tremendous amount of advance work goes into planning and executing a safe and successful CicLAvia, including our door-to-door outreach along routes to help residents and businesses prepare to get the most out of the event. This advance activity does not allow us to plan properly while practicing safe social distancing for our community, volunteers, and staff.

We know that our strong, tightly-knit community is not simply about physical proximity; what brings us together is a shared purpose to create safer, healthier neighborhoods and make streets serve everyone. It’s in that spirit that we encourage all Angelenos to follow the most current CDC guidelines on social distancing to protect the health and safety of all of us.

In the meantime, we are hard at work (from home) planning routes, both new and old favorites, for the rest of 2020 and beyond.

With love,

The CicLAvia Team

Los Angeles enjoyed Mar Vista on Sunday, March 3rd, 2019.

CicLAvia – LA’s awesome open streets event came to the Westside, with a 6.5-mile course from Culver City to the Great Streets section of downtown Mar Vista.

Friends, families, and Angelenos from the Westside and throughout the county got to enjoy our streets like an open park, and with the sun breaking through rain clouds, it was a beautiful day.

We hosted bounce houses, silk screening, live music and poetry, games and prizes, art displays, and a scavenger hunt for neighbors and visitors.

I am incredibly appreciative of my hard-working staff and the city employees who helped put on this great event, and I am grateful to all who came out to enjoy our streets today and experience a communal neighborhood experience. The Westside is a wonderful place to live, work, and enjoy and I am honored to work with you to move our city forward, do good, and get things done.

Thank you to all who helped make the fun and family-friendly festivities at the Mar Vista hub possible. And thank you to Venice Paparazzi for not only running the photo booth throughout the day but also for capturing these great images.
