Dear Friends,
In just a couple of weeks, bridge housing in Venice is going to open, and we’d like to give you a sneak peek at the new facility before it does.
Please join our service providers, PATH and SPY, at a community open house, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, at the former MTA bus yard at 100 Sunset Ave. Volunteers will be on-hand to lead quick guided tours and explain how the site will function. Information stations will also be set up in the facility’s dining area so neighbors can find out more and ask questions of staff.
You can RSVP for the open house HERE.
The temporary housing will provide 154 beds for adults and young people, providing a clean and safe alternative to them sleeping in encampments on Venice sidewalks. Outreach teams are already at encampments near the facility, working to prepare unhoused neighbors to come inside. Residents will begin to move in, in stages, during the last week of the month.
The morning of the open house, from 10 am to 1 pm, PATH, SPY and volunteers will be preparing the site for residents. If you would like to join the hospitality team and help make beds, prepare welcome kits, paint, arrange offices, you can sign up HERE.
Working together, we can implement solutions to our homelessness crisis. That starts with getting people off the streets and out of sidewalk encampments. Bridge housing in Venice will be a big step forward in that direction.
Thank you.
Regards,
MIKE BONIN
