______________
As the number of sidewalk campers/homeless encampments in Venice, and all over Los Angeles swells, many folks are wondering what the hell is going on. How did we get here?
A few of questions dominating the conversation are:
- Since when can you camp on the sidewalk with impunity?
- Why are there so many new homeless people? What is going on in society to fuel this?
- What are the elected officials, and bureaucrats, doing about it?
- What can we do about it?
Councilman Mike Bonin and Mayor Garcetti have a plan, called A Bridge Home, to use MTA lot on Sunset and Main as a homeless shelter for the next 3 years.
There will be a Community Open House to discuss this on Wednesday. June 13 at Westminster Elementary School, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Regarding this plan, here is the FAQ link from Councilman Mike Bonin’s office.
Show up on June 13th and speak your mind, Venice, it is your lot, your neighborhood, and your future!
