Here is a message from our VNC!  The Venice Neighborhood Council, the official governmental arm of the City of Los Angeles, is conducting a “New Logo Contest” to engage the community and all stakeholders to participate in what is being referred to as a “unique community process that will encompass the diversity that is Venice and what makes us special.”

Hollie Stenson, Chairperson of the VNC’s Outreach Committee is heading up this task to create a logo that best exemplifies the “Venice spirit, vibe and lifestyle.”

“What does our community mean to you? In particular, what does Venice mean to you? If you visited Venice, what would you tell your friends and neighbors about this urban beach enclave? With this contest we want to create a visual concept that tells our story and message,” noted Stenson who has organized several VNC sponsored events such as The Green Venice Expo and Venice Holiday Festival.

“Our target audience is anyone who lives, works or is a stakeholder of Venice. We want to gather as much input from our neighbors – be it millennials or long-time Venetians. Homeowners, renters or the unhoused, we want to reach out and have as many submissions as possible and choose the most appropriate logo that tells our story in a positive and compelling manner,” noted Stenson who is an actress and community advocate for several causes including the homeless.

The requirements for submission are the following:

  • Must be adaptable to both Black & White and full-color (one to two colors preferable).
  • The phrase “Venice Neighborhood Council” must appear in the logo
  • Must be adaptable to Social Media applications such as Facebook, Instagram & Twitter.
  •  Must abide to high resolution specifications.

The Venice Neighborhood Council is engaged in a host of community activities beyond its governmental functions as it relates to land use, parking, transportation and other community responsibilities.

This 21-member elected board meets on a monthly basis and considers resolutions and recommendations from the numerous standing and ad-hoc committees composed of community volunteers.

The VNC works cooperatively with the City of Los Angeles as well as the City Council District office currently occupied by Councilmember Michael Bonin (CD-11).

All design submissions are due April 15th and online voting will commence at the close of submissions thru April 30th.

Online voting will be hosted at www.venicenc.org and all finalists will be determined between May 1st and 7th with the three (3) finalists submitted to the full board for selection at the May 15th meeting of the Venice Neighborhood Council to be held at the Westminster Elementary School located on Abbot Kinney Blvd beginning at 7PM.

Should you have any questions regarding logo submission or any other details in what will be a fun-filled process for those participating, please contact Hollie at [email protected]. or visit our web address at www.VeniceNC.org
