Alex Stowell of Venice Paparazzi here. It was a smashing good time on Windward Ave.! Snow blew off the rooftops, rockstars ran through classic jams, carolers harmonized, local businesses passed out cookies and hot chocolate, and Venice came out to party! Woohoo!
And the Venice Paparazzi A Team was out in full force. We had a super fun, holiday themed photo booth and a team of roaming, ace photographers capturing the entire night.

Here is a message from Venice Sign Event Producer George Francisco.
The crowd of thousands enjoyed an wide-ranging group of musical artists leading off with Venice High School student Kiev Morales and his virtuoso violin performance; recent Art Crawl favorite chanteuse Apryll Aileen; two-time American Idol Finalist Adam Lasher and his band then jammed; finally, headliners The Kenneth Brian Band featuring Rock n Roll Hall of Famer Steve Ferrone on drums came on to rock the house and were joined by Beach Boys founder and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Al Jardine as their special guest. The crowd grooved to Beach Boys classics such as Surfin Safari, Help Me Rhonda and Barbara Ann.
In addition, this year, we were proud to have 50 sponsors, 10 nonprofits and 5 City Services join us to kick off the holiday season!
And local resident Matthew Modine, multiple Emmy nominee and Golden Globe winner, and the man responsible for some of our favorite film and tv characters came out to do the honors in lighting the Venice Sign red and green. While Matthew is one of our cinematic heroes, he was joined by a real-life hero in retired Senior Lead Officer Peggy Thusing of the LAPD, as well as Councilman Mike Bonin, his son Jacob and Presenting Sponsor Ilan Kenig in flipping the switch!
