With the opening of Simmzy’s, Venice has a new home for craft beer and quality pub grub.

Snuggled into the infamous Washington Square, the locals have a cool and affordable spot to bring family and friends. They’ve created an environment that easily bends to individual needs, whether it be a much needed “date night”, a gathering for 12, or making family dinner easy with their child friendly dining area (the etch-a-sketch seems to do a good job of keeping the parents busy).

Simmzy’s success has stemmed from sticking to the ideals of a scratch kitchen: fresh, homemade sauces, salad dressings and wood grilled menu items made fresh daily and then pairing those with outrageously unique craft beers (26 in all) which rotate several times a week and include a couple of sours, a cider, stouts, doubles and more of your unknown favorites.

Their popularity gained footing through having one of the best damn cheeseburgers (and wings and brussel sprouts-yep you read right) around; but they’ve maintained their weekly regulars by also offering lighter options like a shrimp citrus avocado salad, tune poke or fish tacos (I do note, where other than California can you find a health conscious pub?) and there’s always a new beer that pairs beautifully. When a beer isn’t what you’re hankering, they serve wine or mimosa’s and during their weekend brunch they splurge by adding red and white sangria’s to the mix.

It’s definitely been a fresh addition into Venice scene. Simmzy’s is reprising the role of quality local haunts back into the neighborhood. They’ve made themselves even more local friendly by adding a weekday happy hour from the hours of 4p-6p. It includes both food and beverage specials starting at $4.00… you won’t find better food anywhere (especially for that price).
