The Venice Beach Boardwalk and Muscle Beach facilities are run by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. The Muscle Beach facilities include basketball, handball and paddle tennis courts, gymnastics and boxing areas, skate parks, Public Art walls, children’s play areas, and more. Check our calendar of a event for basketball, handball, paddle tennis, bodybuilding, powerlifting and skate competitions that occur almost weekly in Venice. Participate and enjoy all that Muscle Beach has to offer. if you don’t have the equipment, rental equipment is available at the Venice Recreation and Parks office.
HOURS OF OPERATION:
October 1st through April 31st from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
May 1st through September 31st from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Note: This facility is open year round except Christmas and rainy days.

Here is a list of our awesome park’s facilities:
MUSCLE BEACH GYM: Outdoor gym with free weights, machines, power rack, powerlifting bumpers & more. Bodybuilder Hall of Fame also found here. Open daily: 8 am-7 pm. $10 day pass. Weekly pass $50. Year pass: $190
BASKETBALL COURTS: 3 regulation & 1 stadium size court.
CHILDREN’S PARK: 2 play areas with swings and slides.
BOXING AREA: 6 speedbag platforms, 2 heavy bag areas.
GYMNASTIC AREA: Also know as the “sand pit” includes: 2 rings set, high and low parallel bars, balance bar, horizontal bar, and 2 climbing ropes.
SKATEPARK: 27,000 sq. foot park,including 2 bowls, snake run, rails, stairs.
SKATE PLAZA: rails, mini-wave, transitions.
ROLLER SKATE PLAZA: Live D.J. and dancing every weekend.
BIKE PATH: The bike path that runs along the beach spans 17 miles, from Pacific Palisades to the Palos Verdes peninsula. No pedestrians on path!
HANDBALL COURTS: 4 three wall courts and 3 one wall courts.
PADDLE TENNIS COURTS: 11 courts. Instructors on hand to teach.
RULES OF THE PARK:
-There is no smoking on park grounds , the beach and anywhere west of the Venice Beach Boardwalk. These areas are smoke free zones.
-Venice Recreation and Parks Close 10:30 p.m. – 5: 30 a.m.
-No animals allowed in Children’s play area
-Dogs prohibited on Ocean Front Walk from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m on Sat., Sun. and holidays. ( Between Memorial Day to Labor Day)
-Pick up your dog’s litter! Dog defecation must be removed immediately by owners under penalty of law.
-Unfortunately dogs are not allowed on the beach in Venice.
-Do not walk on the Venice Bike Path. It is meant for bikes only!
-No bicycles on Ocean Front Walk (Venice Beach Boardwalk). Use the bike path or speedway (street east and parallel to the Venice Beach Boardwalk)
-No BBQ pits on Venice Beach
-If you are 15 yrs and older, you need a permit to fish on the Venice pier. Permits can be obtain on the same day at any sporting good store.
-Throw your trash in the garbage bins or take it home with you. The worse thing I’ve ever seen on the beach is a dirty diaper. Please don’t litter! Keep our beaches clean.

Maui and Son is the one stop shop. Surf lessons are $60.00 per person. This includes a private one on one lesson, for 1 ½ hours (surfboard and wetsuit included). Skateboard lesson are $30.00/hr (hookup with one of the local skater for the lesson) Skateboard rental are $5.00/hr Surfboard rental are $8/hr.
